Travel after ankle surgery

I've had these burning questions on my mind since breaking my ankle -

1. When will I be able to travel again?
2. What will happen to my ankle when on airplanes for long haul flights?
3. Will I be able to resume the hiking and trekking I did before?
4. Will I be able to endure 10+ mile hikes up and down steep inclines?
5. Do I have to slow down now? What precautions will I have to take when travelling? What type of active ankle brace should I invest in?

I have a little less than 2 weeks to go before Post-Op Followup #2  where I'll find out whether I can start bearing weight on my right leg. I am itching to ask these questions to my doctor - hoping for the best but expecting the worst is all I can do at the moment. I will not lose sight of what I want to do and where I want to go.
